Abu Bakr chose Zayd and told him:
> “You are a wise young man, and we trust you. You used to write the revelation for the Messenger of Allah, so now gather the Quran.”
Zayd replied:
> “By Allah, if they had asked me to move a mountain, it would have been easier than compiling the Quran.”
