Islam and Other Religions

Islam and Other Religions: The Path of Truth Between Similarity and Distinction

In a world filled with diverse beliefs and religions, the human heart continues its eternal quest for truth:

Who am I? Why was I created? And what awaits me after death?

While many religions call for goodness, Islam stands apart as not merely a philosophy or set of rituals, but a complete way of life revealed by the Creator Himself to guide humanity with divine light toward truth and peace.

---

Common Ground Between Islam and Other Religions

Islam does not deny the previous heavenly messages. Rather, it affirms them, honors all prophets, and considers them stages of a single divine message from Allah.

> “The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:285)

Islam shares with earlier divine religions:

Belief in one Creator and Sustainer of the universe.

Belief in prophets, divine revelation, and moral responsibility.

A call toward justice, mercy, and good conduct.

Belief in the Hereafter and accountability for deeds.

---

Major Differences Between Islam and Other Religions

Despite some shared roots, Islam remains distinct in three foundational aspects:

1. Pure Monotheism (Tawheed)

While many religions have deviated from the concept of one God, Islam has preserved it in its purest form:

> “Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge.”

(Surah Al-Ikhlas 112:1–2)

In Islam, Allah is the unique Creator — He has no partner, no son, and nothing resembles Him

---

2. Preservation of Divine Revelation

Unlike earlier scriptures that were altered or lost, the Qur’an remains perfectly preserved by the promise of Allah:

> “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We will be its guardian.”

(Surah Al-Hijr 15:9)

For over fourteen centuries, not a single letter has changed — it is recited today exactly as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his companions.

---

3. Comprehensiveness and Balance

Islam provides a complete framework for life — spiritual, moral, social, and intellectual.

It does not separate religion from daily life. It balances between faith and reason, worship and work, spirituality and practicality.

---

How Do We Know That Islam Is the True Religion?

Certainty in Islam is not based on emotion alone but on evidence, reason, and harmony with human nature (fitrah).

Many scientists, thinkers, and scholars have embraced Islam after studying the Qur’an objectively.

Signs of the Truth of Islam:

1. The Perfection and Consistency of the Qur’an:

Revealed over 23 years, yet free from contradiction.

2. Harmony with Human Nature:

Islam speaks to the heart and mind alike, bringing inner peace.

3. Timelessness:

Its message fits every era and society.

4. Scientific Miracles:

Knowledge revealed in the Qur’an 1400 years ago, proven only recently by modern science.

Scientific Miracles in the Qur’an: Living Proof That Islam Is From Allah

1. The Creation of the Human Embryo

> “We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a safe place of rest...”

(Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:12–14)

The Qur’an describes the precise stages of embryonic development — from a drop to a clinging clot to a lump of flesh — centuries before the invention of the microscope.

These verses deeply impressed Professor Keith L. Moore, one of the world’s leading embryologists, who declared:

> “It is impossible for this knowledge to have come from Muhammad. It must be divine revelation.”

---

2. The Expansion of the Universe

> “And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.”

(Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:47)

This verse, revealed in the 7th century, foretold the expansion of the universe — a fact discovered only in the 20th century by Edwin Hubble and confirmed by modern astrophysics.

--

3. Mountains as Stabilizers

> “And the mountains as pegs.”

(Surah An-Naba’ 78:7)

Geologists later discovered that mountains have deep roots beneath the earth’s crust, anchoring and stabilizing the planet — just as the Qur’an described.

Many geoscientists have acknowledged that such knowledge could not have been known 1400 years ago.

---

4. The Barrier Between the Seas

> “He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses.”

(Surah Ar-Rahman 55:19–20)

Oceanographers have discovered that where saltwater and freshwater meet, a distinct barrier exists preventing them from mixing completely — a fact unknown until modern times.

This discovery moved the famous French scientist Jacques Cousteau, who later acknowledged the Qur’an’s accuracy in describing marine phenomena.

---

5. The Origin of Life from Water

> “And We made from water every living thing.”

(Surah Al-Anbiya’ 21:30)

Modern biology confirms that water is the essential basis for all living organisms.

German biologist Reiner Fritsch once remarked after reading this verse:

> “This text precedes modern science by more than a thousand years — it cannot be from a human source.”

---

Scientific Miracles: A Path to Faith for Many

These scientific truths have guided countless scientists, researchers, and seekers of truth toward Islam.

The Qur’an challenges humankind to reflect:

> “Do they not then reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.”

(Surah An-Nisa 4:82)

Islam embraces science rather than fearing it — for true science and true revelation come from the same source: Allah.

---

Islam: The Religion of Nature, Knowledge, and Peace

Islam is not a religion that limits the mind but one that frees it from ignorance and leads it to knowledge of the Creator.

It unites faith with intellect, worship with wisdom, and spirituality with action.

> “We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.”

(Surah Fussilat 41:53)

At Madrasat Al-Quran Academy

At Madrasat Al-Quran Academy, we teach that the Qur’an is not merely a book of recitation — it is a book of knowledge, reflection, and divine light.

We nurture hearts that love Allah and trust in His truth.

We inspire minds to see that Islam is the only faith that perfectly combines revelation and reason, science and spirit, worship and wisdom.

At Madrasat Al-Quran, we plant the conviction that every verse of the Qur’an and every fact in the universe leads to one eternal truth —

that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger.
